Employing overseas students

Survey by Labor Policy and Training Institute has found that the percentage of “companies which hired overseas students as full-time employees in the past three years” was only 9.6%. The opinions characterizing the impression of HR managers at Japanese companies had of the overseas students, were the following: “insufficient Japanese language skills”, “not willing to stay with the company in the long term”, and “highly demanding with regard to working conditions”.
However, when asked about their future employment policies, 79.5% of companies that had hired foreign students said they “would probably hire foreign graduates”, whereas only 16.7% answered they “would probably not hire foreign graduates”.

These results illustrate well the negative attitude Japanese businesses have towards global recruitment. Rather than dwelling too much on the subject, why not actually hire some foreign staff and evaluate their work?
